Simple Steps to Prepare for Your First Bikini Wax

No one ever said getting a bikini wax was easy, but it’s worth it. If you’re new to the process, here are a few steps to help make things a little less daunting. First, make sure you schedule your appointment at least two weeks before your trip to the beach. This will give your skin enough time to calm down after the waxing session. Also, avoid sun exposure before your appointment, and keep your pubic area completely clean and free from bacteria. Finally, come with an open mind—it might not be comfortable initially, but soon you’ll learn to love the feeling of being fuzz-free. Ready to take the plunge? Follow these simple steps and prepare for your first bikini wax!

Getting a Brazilian wax for the first time

  • Step 1: Exfoliate the area to be waxed with a brush, loofah, or soap before your appointment. Remove as much hair as possible because if you have any short hairs, the wax won’t stick, and it will hurt even more when the wax is ripped off.
  • Step 2: Take an Ibuprofen about 30-45 minutes before your appointment. Before you get a bikini wax, many people end up bleeding and cramping – taking Ibuprofen can help reduce discomfort and pain by reducing inflammation and muscle aches after getting waxed. It also reduces the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from scarring from overly aggressive pushing during the waxing process, which happens more often than not in people with darker skin tones.
  • Step 3: Drink plenty of water before and after your appointment to help soothe the skin.
  • Step 4: Wear loose clothing to your appointment so the area can breathe.

Guide for a painless bikini wax

I’ve been thinking about getting a bikini wax for the longest time, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I’m not sure what stopped me. Embarrassment, fear of the unknown, and maybe a little bit because my mom always told me never to go to a salon and get Brazilian done – she’s afraid they will leave me scarred for life! It wasn’t until recently that I decided to bite the bullet and give this Brazilian waxing thing a try for myself. Now don’t let anyone tell you it’s easy or painless. This process hurts like hell (no pun intended), but with these tips, hopefully, your first time can be as smooth as possible:

waxing processDo your research. There are a few things you need to consider before booking your appointment. First, what style of bikini wax do you want? If you’re unsure, ask your technician for recommendations. Also, be sure to ask about the salon’s policies on tipping – most places expect a tip of around 15-20%.

Prepare yourself mentally and physically. The night before your appointment, make sure you exfoliate your entire bikini area using either a sugar scrub or loofah. This will help remove any dead skin cells and make the waxing process less painful. Avoid moisturizing products as they can make the waxing more difficult.

Arrive at your appointment with clean hair. This is probably the most important thing to remember. Your technician will not do a proper wax job if your hair is full of products or oils. If you’re unable to wash your hair before your appointment, try dry shampoo instead.

Take deep breaths. When it comes time for the actual waxing, try to take deep breaths and relax your body as much as possible. This will help minimize the pain. If you’re feeling anxious, ask your technician to apply a topical numbing cream to the area before starting.
